1,500 Indian rupees
Siolim

Service Description

"Exclusively for the month of April" A visit to Goa is never complete unless you don’t pack a few packets of the crunchy cashew nut to take back with you when you leave this beautiful state. But, have you wondered how this nut which was not native to India came to be so famous, that today it is regarded as the state fruit of Goa. Well, on this experience you will learn all there is to know about the cashew planation and the journey of this ‘nut’ from the tree to the packet. Every year by the end of March, you can literally smell the Cashew Apples in the air. Our trail begins at the foothills of Siolim, as we trek the hill where you will be introduced to the state fruit of Goa ‘The Cashew’. As we walk through the plantation you will learn about the history and significance of the cashew fruit and its influences on the life of every Goan. Learning the rules of picking the cashew apples with a stick as the cultivators do, we will collect a few ripe cashew apples and gather a few bush berries to snack on. Once we have collected enough cashews, we will begin our descend and arrive at the stomping area called the “Colmbi” and stomp the fruit to squeeze out the fresh juice called known as ‘Neero’ which is delicious and refreshing. Bite into one of these yellow, green and burnished orange cashew apples and roast a few seeds as you indulge in the best that nature has to offer.
