Service Description

Tourist Flock Goa mainly to explore its beaches, lakes and fields. Well, not only human tourists, avian tourists too. The beaches in goa are feeding grounds for many migratory birds such as gulls, terns, plovers and oyster catchers which chose Goa as their pit stop while migrating. Sometimes we may witness rare species such as crab plovers and great knot. Not only beaches, the lakes and fields in goa too are stops for many ducks such as lesser whistling ducks, northern shovelers, garganeys, Indian spot billed ducks, ruddy shelducks, etc. Many wader species such as snipes, water cock, bitterns, godwits, plovers and stints, as well as small birds such as species of munias and weavers can be found. We decide which spot to go depending on the tide and the season of migration. We may sight medium sized crocodiles as well as otters swimming or running on the banks, and a colony of Indian flying foxes creating a ruckus in the trees. Our main goal in this trip is to cover the various kingfisher species which Goa offers. We will get to see the common kingfisher, white throated kingfisher, “the giant” stork billed kingfisher, pied kingfishers, and the rarities: black capped kingfisher and collared kingfisher. In this birding trip we cover roughly 30 to 50 bird species depending on the time of the year.
